After a few detours, I now live in Frankfurt am Main, where I was born. After studying visual communication, I worked as a filmmaker - you can find more information about my films here. In addition to working on my films, I have been focusing more and more on photography and now alternate evenly between moving and still images.
Nach einigen Umwegen lebe ich wieder in Frankfurt am Main, wo ich geboren wurde. In den letzten Jahren habe ich mich mehr und mehr der Fotografie zugewandt, ohne Film ganz aufzugeben.
There are similarities and differences between film and photography. I value the moment of observation and the process of exploration in both. The photographic image, as a single image, I perceive as contemplative. Putting one image in dialog with another creates a narrative in the viewer's mind. A series can deepen a theme. Photography is a language with its own specificity.
Bei Film und Fotografie gibt es Gemeinsamkeiten und Gegensätze. Den beobachtenden Moment und den Prozess des Erkundens schätze ich bei beiden. Das fotografische Bild, als Einzelbild, empfinde ich als kontemplativ. Der Dialog von mehreren Bildern miteinander löst beim Betrachter eine Narration aus. Eine Serie kann ein Thema vertiefen. Die Fotografie ist eine Sprache mit ihrer eigenen Spezifität.
My pleasure in photography is the process of extracting space and time and transforming them into an image. I'm drawn to the precious in the mundane.
For me, photography is the art of discovering things and transforming them into a visual expression. With an open mind and a bit of luck, I find my images everywhere. I call them improvised treasures.
My photographic approach is intuitive, combining controlled chance and conscious selection. This process sometimes evolves into further conceptual work and deepening of the subject.
Mich interessiert der fotografische Prozess, bei dem Raum und Zeit sozusagen herausgelöst und in ein Bild verwandelt werden. Dabei bin ich von alltäglichen Situationen und Gegenständen visuell angezogen.
In der Fotografie kann ich Dinge neu entdecken und in einen visuellen Ausdruck verwandeln. Mit etwas Glück und mit Hilfe des Zufalls finde ich meine Bilder überall. Es sind Glücksfunde.
Meine fotografische Arbeitsweise ist intuitiv, er vereint das gesteuert Zufällige und das bewußte Auswählen. Aus diesem Prozess entwickelt sich gelegentlich ein weiteres konzeptionelles Vorgehen und eine Vertiefung des Themas.
